2. La Pobla de Lillet: Cement Train and Artigas Gardens
This is a line that historically connected the old Asland cement factory in Castellar de n’Hug with Guardiola de Berguedà, from where the narrow-gauge railway line to Berga and Manresa started.
The journey of the old Cement Train, which lasts approximately 20 minutes, is made by a diesel locomotive with four cars that have a capacity for 25 passengers each. It has a route of 3.5 kilometers and stops at 4 stations:
La Pobla de Lillet
In the old station of La Pobla de Lillet, beginning of our route, you can enjoy a visit to the exhibition “Secondary, industrial and tourist railways in the Llobregat valley”, which offers you a contact with the elements more representative of the time of the railroads and of the mining and industrial trains of the valley
La Pobla Center
La Pobla de Lillet has a wide range of tourist attractions, the most notable being the Pont Vell, the oldest bridge that currently crosses the river Llobregat.
Artigas Gardens
The gardens of Ca l’Artigas are naturalistic gardens, with stones, water and vegetation that were designed by the architect Antoni Gaudí as a thank you for staying in his house while designing the Xalet del Catllaràs.
Cement Museum
The Asland cement factory, located in the Clot del Moro area, in the municipality of Castellar de n’Hug, closed in 1975. The remains still visible today show the spectacular nature of one of the most incredible of Catalan industrialization, framed in a unique natural environment.
